Phantom Hunting at Hyakuri Airbase, May 10 thru 12

The 10th of May we arrived at Narita Int. in the morning and directly picked up our rental car at the airport desk. The little car was waiting just outside the building and we drove away in the direction of Hyakuri! But not before I drove a few rounds at the airport to get used to the left hand side driving and handling of the car... On the way to Hyakuri we made detour to Kashima where we found (via google) a HOMAC DIYS store to buy two "katatzu" aka kitchen steps, which will become very useful the next weeks! Weather started off good, but as time advanced it got worse and at certain moments it was pooring rain. Not to say that that didnt provide nice pics, on the contrary! Awesome bad weather shooting with Japanese hardware! But a bit more sun would sure have been nice... During these 3 days we spend most of our time at the mid-runway spot. We tried to get to the famous eastern taxi track spot..though we found the gate was closed and the gate-keeper didn't want to answer the phone.The one time we got an answer there was nobody to speak to in English...... those japanese... In the end we counted 15 movements the first day and 19 the second, which is according to the security not that many.. |
