Flygfest Örebro 2011, Sweden

The first weekend of September 2011 would see two small airshows in Sweden. The first on Saturday the 3rd at Örebro Airport. Making it a real party the programme had 3 flying blocks of one hour where inbetween there was musical entertainment at the stage. As for the flying part the displays included a lot from Spitfire to Gripen.
Teh day started of grey but weather cleared up as the show continued. Some nice vapour trails were left by the jets as the air was really humid. There was perfect access to the flight line and even a special stair case was set up for photographers from where one could take some nice shots from an elevated position. The start of the show was maybe the Il76, which departed to Afghanistan with two army vehicles onboard. However, after take off it made a turn around and came for a fly-by... a really, really low one. The commentators were speechless!
At the end of the programme most participants departed again. There was one last treat in form of a demonstration of a Rolls Royce engine as can be found in the Spitfire. This one got a bit too much start-up fuel and left a real thick smoke curtain over the field! Not to mention the enthusiatic presentator with his nice long stories about the engine and the family built car! The highlight of the day!
